Time’s up!

Time’s up!

“Time’s up!” We have heard this phrase a lot of times in our life. It shows that we are allowed to do a work or anything within a stipulated time. It reminds us that the time which is allowed for us to do a work is over and also that we have to stop the action that we are doing when the time limit has been reached, no matter if there are any countdowns or not.

But even though we are warned much, we often tend to go beyond the stipulated time and continue our actions. For example, a professor in the exam hall announces, "Time’s up" at the end of a test, meaning that the test is over and all should put their pens down. But we often go on writing, if not beg for more time, even after the reminder of the professor. After the morning alarm, with half sleep we tend to sleep at least for five minutes more. Thus we extend the alarm for five more minutes and it rings every five minutes and it goes on till the clock accepts defeat. We also have this tendency to postpone today’s work for tomorrow. And we take the strictest and most convenient decision, “I will surely do it tomorrow”. Procrastination is a villain in many of our lives. Once I happened to read a very interesting phrase on a noble man’s T-Shirt which went like this: “I am not lazy but I am motivationally challenged”. We even justify our laziness with reasonable and convincing affirmations. Vibrant fellows!

Of course the phrase “Time’s up” always reminds us to complete our tasks within a given time. Also it can be a euphemism for death or anything coming to an end. Let us try to complete our tasks on time because there will be a time when God will tell us that the time’s up, leaving us with no more extra minutes. Well, now it’s time up for me…

               Words

Words can be used as sword,
that can pierce anything.
Words can be used as medicine,
that can cure anyone.
Words can be used as feather,
that can caress anyone.
Words can be used as fire,
that can burn anything.
